Active Shooter Preparation and Respose Training

Active Shooter Response – Timely, Practical, Focused

Active Shooter Preparation and Response Training

Our Active Shooter Preparation and Response Training is designed to introduce techniques that can minimize injury and increase survival should something like this happen at your facility. Our training approach includes:

  • Establishing emergency procedures and making employees aware of options and strategies to maximize personal safety during an Active Shooter event.
  • Discussing best practices for planning, preparation, and practice prior to an event.
  • Reviewing the “Options for Consideration” video developed by The Department of  Homeland Security and providing important context and considerations  around these options.
  • Considering the different dynamics that occur in such events and determining your best response.
  • Understanding what to expect.

Participants also learn the concept of “situational awareness” and the importance of identifying a potentially dangerous situation, whether it is in the workplace, public, school or other environment. From pre-attack indicators to post-incident concerns, Active Shooter Preparation and Response Training can provide your organization with strategies that can help you and your employees respond to or manage an active shooter event at your workplace.

*The training provided by WGI is consistent with techniques that are advocated by the United States Department of Homeland Security.

Training Program Options

WGI’s Active Shooter Response Training is comprised of 3 separate training options:

Option 1 - Active Shooter 101: Personal Safety Strategies for Employees

This is a 90-minute presentation geared toward the general population in your workplace that addresses specific response strategies. Training is tailored to be consistent with existing organizational goals, policies, and emergency plans.

Option 2 - Active Shooter Tabletop Exercise: Management Strategies for Safety Committee, Security, Management and other Leadership personnel

This 2-hour tabletop training session is designed for security personnel, managers, and key leadership personnel to clarify the expectations for their roles during an Active Shooter event.

Option 3 - Active Shooter Hybrid Program: Workspace Safety Training and Tour

The Active Shooter Hybrid Program: Workspace Safety Training and Tour is a 90-minute training and safety class designed to teach the fundamentals of Active Shooter Training while incorporating a walk-through of the real-life work environment.

Active Shooter Response – Timely, Practical, Focused

“An Active Shooter is an individual actively engaged in killing or attempting to kill people in a confined and populated area; in most cases, active shooters use firearms and there is no pattern or method to their selection of victims.

Active shooter situations are unpredictable and evolve quickly. Typically, the immediate deployment of law enforcement is required to stop the shooting and mitigate harm to victims.  Because active shooter situations are often over within 10 to 15 minutes before law enforcement arrives on the scene, individuals must be prepared both mentally and physically to deal with an active shooter situation.”
